Today, we went on a FABULOUS field trip. We went to the Heritage Lab at Wargo Nature Center. There the naturalists set up stations that told about life in the 1800's to about 1870. There was a station that talked about how artists came to MN to paint picture for the government and business. Another told about Naturalists that would identify animals. A third station discussed the Dakota Conflict in Minnesota. We had to do some chores at a settler's homestead and re-enacted the Battle of Gettysburg as the First Minnesota Regiment. The weather was fantastic. Thanks to all for a great day!
Today, we learned that anthropomorphism is when we see animals behave with human characteristics in literature or movies. For example, a pig dancing or building a house out of bricks. We saw many other examples in the story, The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.
Here is a poem we have been working on this week.
Little by Little Little by little by little by little The big things get done Little by little by little by little Lifes battles are won Little by little by little by little You will reach the skies Little by little by little by little You will take the prize Little by little Smile by smile Inch by inch Mile by mile Little by little by Lots We had a great first day of Third Grade! We learned a new poem about blowing bubbles with gum and left our mark on the classroom door.
